A very modern distillery, Glenfarclas was last refitted in the mid 1980's. A Highland (speyside) malt, the entire range is aged in sherry casks.
Glenfarclas is credited as the first distillery to bottle a 'cask-strength' single malt for the commercial market. This means that it is bottled strait out of the cask it is aged in, with no diluting (and chill filtering which usually accompanies the diluting to prevent cloudyness). To pay proper hommage to his wonderful trend-setter, January's offer will include a 50ml bottle of the Glenfarclas cask strength.. watch it though.. 60% alcohol in this lively little malt. Be sure to 'unock' the flavours of the cask strength with a few drops of water.
Nose: Nutty and grasy on the nose
Palate: Sweet, light and simple.
